CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – Elite point guard Cole Anthony has signed on to play college basketball at North Carolina.
Anthony signed a National Letter of Intent to play for Roy Williams and the Tar Heels on Tuesday.
ESPN lists Anthony as the No. 2 player and No. 1 point guard in the 2019 class.
The New York native received offers from Oregon, Miami, Wake Forest, and Georgetown among others.
Williams said Anthony is “one of the most complete point guards” he’s recruited.
“He has all the physical skills, but he has a competitiveness, a toughness and a savvy that I really like. I first saw him as a ninth-grader and since then he has gotten better and better and I know he will continue to improve,” Williams said.
Anthony earned Most Valuable Players honors at the 2019 McDonald’s All-America Game.
