3-Degree Guarantee: Project Linus receives $2,900

3 Degree Guarantee

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – After getting 29 of 31 days correct during the December 3-Degree Guarantee, Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Wes Hohenstein presented Susie Holmes, founder of the Wake County chapter of Project Linus, with a $2,900 check from CBS 17 and Allen Kelly & Company Heating and Air.

Every month CBS 17 picks a different local charity to raise money and awareness for the daily 3-Degree Guarantee. Each day when the CBS 17 Storm Team gets the next day’s forecast correct within three degrees, CBS 17 and Allen Kelly & Company donate $100 to a charity.

At the end of the month, all the money raised is totaled and presented to that month’s group.

Project Linus was selected as the December 2018 charity. Named after the popular Peanuts character who always had his blanket, Project Linus in Wake County is an all-volunteer organization that gives handmade blankets, quilts and afghans to seriously ill children from infants to young adults.

You can read more about Project Linus and see how they make blankets here. You can also learn how to volunteer and make blankets for kids on their website here.
