MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (CNN) - Federal officials are assessing the damage from Hurricane Michael and they say Mexico Beach, Florida, was ground zero for the storm.
Michael moved ashore Wednesday at Category 4 strength, with wind speeds up to 155 mph.
Emergency responders say they're focused on rescues and figuring out which roads need to be cleared.
Two people are dead and more than 500,000 people are without power in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Michael is the strongest hurricane in recorded history to hit the Florida panhandle.
It's now a tropical storm.
