RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Idalia remains a tropical storm with sustained winds of 60 miles per hour about 45 miles SSW of Wilmington, NC.
Idalia made landfall near Keaton Beach, FL at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday morning as a Category 3 hurricane with winds of 125 miles per hour.

The fast-moving tropical system will continue to bring North Carolina gusty winds through the day on Thursday.
WIND FORECAST:
Wind gusts are forecast to be 20-40 mph at their peak. Winds will begin to ease up as we get into the day on Friday. Expect winds to be out of the northeast sustained around 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph.
RAIN FORECAST:
Rainfall amounts weren’t impressive over the Triangle with under an inch of rainfall recorded at RDU but areas south and east of RDU picked up several inches of rainfall, including Fayetteville. This was partly due to Idalia quickly moving through the region and its heavier rainbands setting up near the SC/NC line.
